Wadowice

A small town southwest of Krakow made famous by a Pole who became pope. This is a brief description of Wadowice, although it will be an incomplete description, because this town has much more to offer.

Of course, the biggest attraction is a tour of the Wojtyła family home, where Pope John Paul II was born and lived. The inconspicuous apartment in the heart of the city, along with adjacent rooms, houses an exhibition about the Holy Father and his youth and is itself a tangible exhibit from those times.
 

 

Why is Wadowice such a great city?

In addition to Karol Wojtyła's house, in Wadowice it is worth visiting the Emil Zegadłowicz Museum and the Polish-American Private Museum dedicated to the pilots-members of the Liberator B-24 Hells Angel bomber brigade, shot down near Wadowice during World War II. And finally, of course, the famous papal cream cakes!
